The Qt Company has announced that it will acquire froglogic GmbH, a major provider of quality assurance and software testing tools, such as test automation tools. The acquisition will bring froglogic’s test automation tools into the Qt product portfolio to offer a complete package for customers, extending the offering to encompass the entire software development process from design, development and deployment and now quality assurance.
froglogic was created in 2003 to develop cross-platform Graphic User Interface (GUI) test automation tools, specifically to automate tests for applications based on the Qt GUI framework, with its Squish- and Coco-products. The company has rapidly grown to include GUI test tools for GUI technologies on Windows, Linux, Unix, macOS, embedded/mobile and Web platforms.
Qt and froglogic are long-time partners and share a large, common market and customer base. With testing and code coverage analysis increasingly becoming an integral part of the software development process, enhancing Qt’s product offering with frologic QA tools will provide customers with a much richer and complete offering. The development and support for frologic tools outside the Qt market, such as GUI testing for non-Qt applications and code coverage for non-GUI applications, should continue. Qt already supports non-Qt developers with the Qt Creator IDE.
